Not-So-Basic Black // Thrifted Date Night Outfit

On your average date night, I’m normally pulling out every single item out of my closet. I try each option on thousands of times, before settling on the very first thing I thought of in the beginning. Except for this time. In a freak accident that will never happen again in my life, I knew exactly which shirt I wanted to wear this time.

I recently went on a thrift trip with my mom. [It’s a thing we like to do on weekends.] We were going through the racks, not browsing for anything particular, when she held up this mesh shirt with black flowers embroidered on it. At first, I said “nah”, and kept browsing. But then I kept thinking about it. That’s how you know a piece of clothing is special.

So I had her point me to the spot she found it and went to try it on. Believe it or not, it looked great. It was fitted, but not too fitted. Trendy, but still vintage-looking. Basically, I had to have it. And it was the exact shirt I was thinking of when my boyfriend suggested date night.

The shirt is simple, but unique all at the same time. Of course, I had to pair it with a tank top underneath, because it’s see-though. I opted for a pink bottom layer. When I tried it on with a black tank, you couldn’t see all the detail, and I really wanted it to pop.

Ready for the best part? It was $1.50. I can’t make this stuff up! Not only was it a great deal, but the money went to a great cause too. Just another perk of purposeful living, my friends.

I paired it with a pair of jeans [although they look black in this photo], heeled boots, and a black bomber jacket. Normally I go for Earth-tones, like brown and olive green, so I felt pretty edgy in this look. This year is all about stepping out of my comfort zone, and this outfit was a good start.

My boyfriend said I looked great, but, after seven years, I’m convinced I could come out in my pajamas and he would still say that. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely appreciate the constant compliments though.

I was also really pleased with my makeup as well. I used the Morphe 35R Palette for my eyes. I went for a subtle, smokey look. It was colorful, but not enough for my boyfriend to be staring at the shades all date long. Then I finished it off with my new lipstick go-toEssence’s Matt Matt Matt Lipstick in 02.

I’m no pro at makeup, but I have fun. That’s all that matters when it comes to beauty. After all, you can take it all off at the end of the night. All in all, I was really happy with this look. And, surprisingly, it didn’t take me all that long to put together.

xx.

This is GORG!!!! I love everything about this- and thrifting is life! Lately I have loved pairing dark on top with dark on the bottom, it’s all about just mixing those textures, right?! Also- your hair is perfection. XO
