Jaclyn Hill’s Morphe Palette // Review & Swatches

If there’s anything that I love as much as a good thrift session, it’s receiving packages in the mail. I mean, come on. There’s nothing better than getting a little present directly to you. Especially when the box is filled with new makeup launches.

For those of you that don’t know, I work from home as a beauty and fashion writer. So I was on my porch, sipping my coffee, just about to gear up for another day, when the FedEx guy pulled into my driveway.

As soon as he got out of the car he said, “It’s from Morphe, so it’s going to be a good day!”

I spilled my coffee everywhere, ditched my computer and practically tackled him in the driveway. Yes, I had guessed right. It was Jaclyn Hill’s Morpe Palette that had arrived two weeks early. No, this is not a sponsored post. I am just very fortunate to be on their PR list.

You can basically hear the “ahhh” noises just by looking at it, can’t you? The palette is simple, white cardboard packaging with metallic writing. It’s clear to see that this is unlike any other Morphe palette. Typically, the brand sticks to matte black with red writing, so right off the back you can tell this is special.

People have been hyping this palette up for months now. I will admit, I was drooling over every swatch post and announcement too, but I was a bit skeptical. I didn’t want to fall in love with it just for the name or the shades. I wanted to give this bad boy a good testing first. Spoiler alert: it’s just as good as you think it is.

Let’s break down the basics before we have some fun. Jaclyn Hill’s Morphe Palette has 35 shades that were created exclusively by the makeup artist. It will be available for $38 on Morphe’s website on June 21 for a limited time. There’s a mix of cool, warm, and neutral toned shades. Believe me when I say that you’re going to want this in your life.

At first swatch, I could tell these shadows were different. The powders are almost creamy to the touch without creating any fallout. I was wowed as soon as I started using them on the lids too. They’re more pigmented than any other shadows I own. That being said, they’re not intimidating at all to use — even for someone like me, who is very much afraid of color.

I am no makeup artist, but this palette made me feel like I was. Normally, I stick to neutral, everyday colors. But as soon as I opened up this palette, I was inspired to try something different. For the first time in years, I decided to play with warm-toned shades.

I, like many other people, have oily eyelids. While there’s no way to stop my skin from producing oil, it can be hard to get eyeshadows to stick without rubbing off or gathering in my crease throughout the day. I’ve tried primers and all different eyeshadow formulas, but apparently all I need to try was Jaclyn Hill’s Morphe Palette.

This was the first look I tries, and I couldn’t believe how much of a success it was! Normally I try for a while to combine the right shades, blend well enough, and work up the color. This eye look took me about ten minutes and looked absolutely stunning.

Even better than that, it stayed on all day long. Like I said before, normally the shades wear off or gather in my crease, but these shades stayed perfect all day long. I’ve never has shadows like this in my entire life.

Since the warm-toned colors were such a success, I wanted to test out the cool-toned shades the next day. So it was on to the blue! [Go big or go home, right?] The swatches were just as smooth as the previous colors, but I will admit I was a bit hesitant to put them on my eyes.

Once I started, I couldn’t stop! I decided to go for an ocean-inspired look that went from white to blue to deeper blue. I have never worn blue eyeshadow before — at least not since the ’90s — but I love how this look turned out.

It’s official: Jaclyn Hill has officially got me out of my makeup rut. If you were to tell me a week ago that I would be rocking blue eyeshadow, I would have laughed in your face. But this palette will make you want to play with every single shade.

Honestly, I would never play with these types of colors if it weren’t for the incredible formula. This is nothing like any of the other Morphe palettes. The color stay super pigmented and in place all day long. I don’t know how Hill or Morphe did it, but I’m so glad they did.

Of course, there are plenty of neutral shades in the palette too. There’s every crease color you could possibly need as well as deeper colors that would work perfectly for a smokey eye. I tend to use them as liner instead.

For the third look, I wanted to show you that the palette works well for everyday makeup as well. I took a few of the lighter brown shades, mixed them all together on my brush and created this last look. it took me about three minutes from start to finish.

Bottom line: this palette can do it all. I would highly recommend that you pick it up on launch day, because it really is great. You can carry this palette around with you and have pretty much everything you need.

What do you guys think? Will you be buying one on launch day? Do you want to see more looks? Let’s talk about it in the comments section!

xx.

I’m not the biggest fan of Morphe, but I have to admit, this palette is really pretty. Shades are really lovely and you can make a lot of makeup looks with it. xx

For Morphe, I’m on their PR list because I’m a writer for Bustle. But everyone else, I just reach out to and ask! The worst that they can say is no. Feel free to email me, and I can share some more advice! xx.

That palette looks so pretty 😍 I always hesitate putting on blue/green toned shades but the ones in that palette look so gorgeous that I would definitely give them a try omg!! x

Ohhh how lucky! I would spill my coffee too 😂. These colours are up my ally so I might bite the bullet and try morphe shadows with this collab as I have yet to try them.
Hope you have a great day lovely!

Opps! At least the package was worth it hahaha. Ok I am planning of finally giving it a go sometime this year as I just bought the too faced natural love eyeshadow palette. Which morphe palette is your favourite?

How did you like the Natural Love Palette? And this is by far my favorite Morphe one. It feels so incredibly high end compared to their others. Although I really love the 35R too. It’s harder to use in the summer though, because of all the dark shades xx.

I just bought it 2 days ago so still testing it out, I know many people disliked it. I personally am thoroughly enjoying it so far! Ok thanks for sharing, I appreciate it now I will have to see my budget can fit another palette 😂.

At first, I was turned off by the blues and greens… but you’re right, their inclusion definitely helps those of us neutral addicts get out of our makeup rut! 😛

I’ve seen many reviews of this palette and a lot of people said some shades were a little dry and that the formula isn’t THAT much better. It’s really hard to trust Youtubers now a days who hype up every single thing. At the end of the day, I feel like you’re paying for the name and not so much the palette itself. Idk, im extremely skeptical when it comes to YT people collabs. But I’ll admit I think that most of the shades are pretty (although the have terrible names) and a lot of them are pigmented. I’m not a JH fan though so I probably wouldn’t buy or give my money to her. This is, my own personal opinion though lol.

I’m sorry you feel that way! In my honest opinion, these are some of the best shadows that I have ever used. That’s regardless of the name. Some of them you do have to use your finger for, but I wouldn’t say that any of them are dry. I was not paid to say this, nor am I just promoting the name. I just genuinely love this palette! Also, you’re only paying about $1 per shadow, so it’s actually more on the affordable side xx.

Ahh this definitely looks really good! I’m not sure when and where I’d use the blue colours but the rest look so good!

      1. InYourFace

Ahh no wonder! Will keep a look out. My next palette on my list is the chocolate bar too faced palette!

      2. Kali Borovic

I need to get my hands on that one too! And the Yes, Please Palette from ColourPop. Although the Jaclyn Hill Palette has every shade I could possibly need, so I have a hard time justifying it haha xx.
